CHADIS provides automated pre-visit medical and behavioral health screening and automatically scores and interprets the data with hundreds of questionnaires to choose from.

 

CHADIS can:

  • track data

  • allow teen input that is separate and confidential

  • facilitate secure communication across settings & professionals with a
    "Referral Button" option for positive screen to connect with local agency/professional 

  • facilitate between visit monitoring

  • create quality improvement reports

  • automatically provide relevant local and national resources to families

  • offer ABMS approved MOC-4 credits, without chart review

  • allow teacher & other caregiver input by invitation

  • complement telehealth with digital patient health data collection

Developmental Screening

All children enrolled in Medicaid are entitled to receive developmental screening as it is a required service for children under the Medicaid Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) benefit.

• Target Population: Children up to age 30 months (excludes those dually eligible for Medicare and Medi-Cal)

Pregnant or Postpartum Recipients

  • Providers of prenatal care and postpartum care may submit claims twice per year per pregnant or postpartum recipient: once when the recipient is pregnant and once when she is postpartum.

Postpartum Depression Screening at Well-Child Visits

  • Providers of well-child care may submit claims for a maternal depression screening up to four times during the infant's first year of life. Bright Futures recommends screening for maternal depression at the infant's one-month, two-month, four-month and six-month visits, with referral to the appropriate provider for further care if indicated.

Recipients Who Are Not Pregnant or Postpartum

 

  • Screening for depression is reimbursable for recipients 12 years of age or older who are not pregnant or postpartum, once per year, per recipient, per provider

CA launches first-of-its-kind ACEs initiative; Beginning Jan. 1, 2020, Medi-Cal will begin paying for ACEs screenings

Policy

• Effective Date: January 1, 2020

• Provider Types: Medi-Cal providers; 

Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), Rural Health Clinics (RHCs), Cost-Based Reimbursement Clinic (CBRCs), and Indian Health Services (IHS)

HCPCS: G9919 - G9920 • Rate: $29

  • Children and adolescents under age 21: Permitted for periodic ACEs rescreening as determined appropriate and medically necessary, not more than once per year, per provider (per managed care plan).

  • Adults age 21 up to 65: Permitted once in their adult lifetime (up to age 65), per provider (per managed care plan). Screenings completed while member is under age 21 do not count toward the one screening allowed in their adult lifetime.

The Staying Healthy Assessment (SHA) is the Department of Health Care Services’ (DHCS’s) Individual Health Education Behavior Assessment (IHEBA).
